Michael is a recent graduate of Virginia Tech, where he pursued his graduate studies in Urban and Regional Planning. His enthusiasm for public transportation emerged during a study abroad in Europe, where he experienced the transit systems in Freiburg, Germany, Zurich, Switzerland, and Vienna, Austria. As a student, Michael worked at the U.S. Department of Transportation, where he reimagined the monthly data reports for the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse and presented to a symposium on reducing car dependency within the United States. Furthermore, Michael collaborated with local governments like Bluefield, West Virginia to conduct an in-depth housing study of the town and Roanoke, Virginia to craft a heat resiliency plan for the city.
