TMD and Kittleson & Associates are leading the AC Transit Realign network redesign project, a comprehensive restructuring of the AC Transit bus network. The project, scheduled for implementation in August 2024, evaluates all intra-East Bay and Transbay services. TMD reviewed existing ridership and performance trends and compared current performance against pre-pandemic levels. Using findings from the existing conditions analysis and extensive community outreach, TMD developed three different service scenarios for public comment in Fall 2023 – a Balanced Coverage scenario that simplifies routes to improve reliability and shorten travel times, a Frequent Service scenario that focuses service in the highest-demand areas, and an Unconstrained Vision scenario with substantial frequency and coverage expansion. Moving forward, TMD will continue to refine a preferred network scenario.
