Exciting to see MTS experience its highest ridership growth since 2015! We worked closely with MTS in 2016 to develop the Transit Optimization Plan (TOP) which added $2 million in new service. The TOP recommendations were implemented over the course of 2018 and January 2019, and the recent ridership growth reflects the positive effects of increased 15-minute service and streamlined route alignments. We continue to work closely with MTS on developing a program of projects for Elevate SD 2020, a potential sales tax measure for the November 2020 ballot. Many of the proposed improvements in Elevate SD were built off the recommendations in the TOP. Recent ridership trends suggest that MTS is primed for significant ridership increases if the ballot measure is successful.
