TMD supported the City of Pasadena with their Short Range Transit Plan (SRTP) update. This document provides a plan for changes to the Pasadena Transit fixed-route and Pasadena Dial-a-Ride services over the next five years. To date, TMD has completed a rider survey and onboard ridecheck for the Pasadena Transit fixed-route service, summarized the existing service conditions, and has developed service recommendations which consider feedback from the community. The SRTP recommendations help Pasadena Transit meet the following goals:

  • Goal: Reflect new travel patterns
    • Extend span of service (operating hours) on most routes to better match post-pandemic travel demand
    • Provide same service frequencies and span on Saturday and Sunday to match weekend travel demand patterns
  • Goal: Integrate with Metro NextGen
    • Extend span to better match Metro service hours
    • Integrate former Metro Lines 177 and 256 into the Pasadena Transit network
    • Reduce service on corridors well-served by Metro Lines
    • Prepare Pasadena Transit routes for upcoming NoHo to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit
  • Goal: Improve customer experience
    • Use compatible, clock-face frequencies for easier transfers with Metro and other Pasadena Transit routes
    • Improve weekday peak frequencies on key corridors
    • Add holiday service on Pasadena Transit routes to match Metro service
    • Same-day service pilot for Pasadena Dial-A-Ride with extended service area

The final SRTP will be presented to the Pasadena City Council later this year.
