TMD served as Operations Integration Lead with Los Angeles Metro as part of the G Line Improvements Project, a major, multi-year upgrade to Metro’s G Line (formerly known as the Orange Line) BRT in the San Fernando Valley. The project includes design and construction of two busway grade separations and railroad-style gated crossings at all other intersections to increase Bus Speeds along the corridor. TMD is a subconsultant to the Valley Transit Partners (VTP) joint venture.
TMD led the development of the Concept of Operations and new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Metro bus operations. These tasks included extensive analysis of Metro ridership, service, and operating data, assessment of the G Line’s operating and maintenance facility, and the evolving battery electric bus (BEB) fleet assigned to the line. TMD’s work provides an important nexus between the project’s capital improvements and operational requirements and Metro’s day-to-day operations of the G Line. This comprehensive approach ensured that the project’s capital improvements are seamlessly integrated with operational requirements and Metro’s day-to-day operations of the G Line to deliver a high-quality customer experience.
