TMD is currently leading the Broomfield Transit Study for the City and County of Broomfield in Colorado. This rapidly-growing suburban community is located about halfway between Denver and Boulder and is served by Denver RTD’s local and regional bus network (as well as RTD’s FlexRide microtransit service and the Broomfield-operated EasyRide service for seniors and adults with disabilities). Despite this diversity of mobility options, Broomfield recognizes that transit service levels are limited and may not be meeting residents’ needs.

Combining a focused, data-driven analysis of the community makeup, travel patterns, and current transit ridership with a strong engagement and surveying effort, TMD is helping Broomfield to identify unmet mobility needs and advance implementable recommendations for public transit improvements. TMD is also leveraging its lengthy experience in the Denver region and close connections with RTD staff and other stakeholders to ensure the study’s outcomes align with regional mobility goals and planning efforts.

Our work analyzing public travel patterns, combined with a robust communitywide survey effort, will provide a sound foundation for the plan’s recommendations and has already challenged assumptions around local vs. regional travel and community preferences for transit. The Broomfield Transit Study is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025.
