The last few years have brought significant change to West Ventura County, impacting every aspect of life – including public transportation. To better serve the community, Gold Coast Transit District (GCTD) needs a transportation network that reflects the new ways in which riders live, work, shop, travel, and play. As a result, GCTD selected TMD to develop a Short Range Transit Plan (SRTP) to guide future operational changes and capital projects.
The purpose of the SRTP is to improve mobility and quality of life in the region by:
- Enhancing transit effectiveness and efficiency,
- Restructuring bus service to optimize economic growth and regional connectivity,
- Assessing the feasibility of creating a higher-quality transit corridor between Oxnard and Ventura, and
- Improving ridership, reliability, and customer experience.
The result of the process will be a phased plan focused on providing high-quality transit that meets the needs of the Gold Coast service area and community for the foreseeable future. TMD is currently in the existing conditions phase of the project. The final SRTP is expected to be completed in Summer 2024.
