Qualitative and Quantitative Research
Tanaya Malhotra joined TMD shortly after successfully completing her Master of Planning degree from University of Southern California (USC). As a member of our planning team, she has worked on a variety of projects, including a paratransit service evaluation for Capital Metro (Austin), designing complimentary bus service for a commuter rail project for RTD-Denver, a redesign of the complete bus network for VIA-San Antonio, and leading analysis of running time callibration for Des Moines DART. Currently, she is focusing on leading analysis for the Westside, San Gabriel Valley and Gateway Cities council districts for the LA Metro NextGen project. Her work on these projects has included thorough market and service analyses. Additionally, she was involved in mapping, segmenting, and developing other visual content for public outreach, the final report, and board presentations. Tanaya brings experience and enthusiasm for transit planning, as evidenced in her prior work at the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) and Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation (IndyGo). While at IndyGo, she conducted a systemwide fare study, a bus stop amenity assessment, and bus stop time point/interval examination. At LADOT, she created and analyzed multi-city comparative matrices for rolling stock and cost estimate data for the Streetcar Project, and was also responsible for supporting the Dial-A-Ride project RFP document. She regularly monitored and updated the NTD, Transtrack and Synchromatic systems, and assisted in geocoding and programming for the Hanover Announcement Systems for DASH buses.
