TMD worked closely with Metro over three years to develop the NextGen Bus Plan, and we’re excited to see the first round of improvements hit the streets on December 13. The service changes are comprehensive, affecting bus lines across the service area throughout the week. Frequency will be improved on over 50 lines on weekdays both to improve the customer experience and to maintain social distancing requirements on crowded lines as ridership comes back. Eight Metro Rapid lines will be replaced with more frequent service on Local lines, providing a better experience for riders. Our work during the course of the study found that having competing Rapid and Local lines on the same corridor was less effective than having one enhanced frequent service. This service change also includes the introduction of new Microtransit service to LAX/Inglewood.
